Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's the first artist of female gender with Dreamville Records by J. Cole. The label released her first EP, Pho, in October 2016, and she was able to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox first posted music online in 2012. The singer released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013, five Finger Discount. The year 2014 saw her continue to release her music on the internet, including her self release single Bound. On July 21st, the 21st of July in 2015 Omen featured her on Elephant Eyes the track Sweat It Out. The following year, her music circulated throughout the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some potential references to Rihanna. In December 2008, it was revealed that Rihanna had contracted with Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution for The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The 21st of October, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released under the name Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and also performed as the opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. In 2018, she performed as a guest on two songs with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. A music video followed by a music video in September. She released her second single Grampa on November 9. In November 13, she released two more singles called No One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made appearances in the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the track as a single in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. The track was accompanied by the music video which debuted that was released on February 20, 2019 and surpassed 3 million views on YouTube within one week. As a supporting act She toured in concert with 6LACK during December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
